The system of Captain's Choice is located on the far outer edge of a region of space known to be inhabited by an Ork tribe of the 'Undred 'Undred Teef. It appears to have been the latest addition to the ork hegemony in the region - though latest imperial bio-survey data suggests the orks have bypassed a number of other systems to get there.
The sytem itself was, initially, patrolled by a sizeable ork taskforce, backed up by a huge space-weapon of unknown design or function. These forces have recently been destroyed entirely by a combined taskforce of imperial trading houses. The field of wreckage left in the wake of the battle has settled into orbit around Captain's Choice 4, the gas giant around which the battle was fought. Whilst slowing, all indications are that the field will take over a hundred years to de-orbit.
Captain's Choice is the last known location of the warp entity claiming the title of
The Maw of the Void. The being was jettisoned into interplanetary space from the D'Ralier flagship, Tide of Iron, having infiltrated the ship during a brief Geller Field instability. The jetsam was subsequently vapourised in a staged training excercise by the Tide's gun crews.
Captain's Choice 4
A gas giant of huge proportions, CC4 currently has two moons; a destroyed ork battlegroup, and a natural moon composed of super-dense sensor blocking materials. Current scans indicate the moon is a perfect candidate for mining operations.
Captain's Choice 2
An earth-like planet with an active bio-sphere, CC2 has been infested by orks. Scans reveal that, back before imperial history began, this planet was host to some form of human settlement. Further investigation will be required to ascertain the true nature of the planets previous occupants, and what structures and technologies remain.
One obvious structure on the planets surface appears to be guarded by an ork gargant. Seismic probing reveals that the construction is mearly the tip of an iceberg, and spreads deep beneath the surface of the planet. The gargant appears mobile, but seems to spend its time wandering around the structure, occasionally turning to face it.
